St. Michael Church

A predecessor building likely stood on the site of the current St. Michael's Church well before the year 1000, with remnants still visible in the northern church gardens. The construction of the present church began in 1511, with the choir and tower, as well as the ceiling painting of the choir, dating from this period. Since the Reformation around 1540/1543, the church has been Evangelical. An octagonal baptismal font from 1545, which was temporarily removed and later rediscovered, is now located in the choir. The old nave was demolished and enlarged in 1872, with the altar, pulpit, and baptismal font designed in Neo-Gothic style. A renovation between 1966 and 1968 led to a redesign of the interior, including the replacement of the high altar with a table altar and the reduction of the galleries.
