The St. Nikolaos Cathedral, today known as the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque, is in Famagusta.

History+

The foundation stone for the former Nikolaus Cathedral was laid in 1298 by the crusaders. It served the Lusignans as their second coronation cathedral and was consecrated in 1326, the same year as the Hagia Sophia Cathedral in Nicosia. Following the Ottoman conquest of Famagusta in 1571, the building was converted into a mosque and named after the Ottoman commander-in-chief, Lala Kara Mustafa Pasha.

The structure is located in Famagusta (Αμμόχωστος, Mağusa) in the district of Gazimağusa (Αμμόχωστος, Famagusta) in Northern Cyprus (Kuzey Kıbrıs) on Cyprus. It stands at an elevation of approximately 14 meters above sea level.
