The Stacherburg is a historic lowland castle in Golzheim, a district of Merzenich in the Düren district. This four-winged brick complex has a manor house with a hip roof and a gate tower.

History+

The history of Stacherburg is linked to the Stach von Golzheim family, who settled here from 1375. This lineage originally came from the settlement of Hüppelheim, which had already disappeared in the Middle Ages. Johann Stach, documented in 1377, is considered the first known lord of the castle. After inheritance disputes, Hans Stach von Golzheim took over the complex in 1609 and leased it out. In 1685, ownership transferred to the Cologne notary Dr. Tillmann Grevenbroich.
