The Town Fortification can be visited

The Ahrweiler-Adenbachtor town fortification is part of the historic town wall of Ahrweiler in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is a prominent element of the almost completely preserved town fortifications that still encircle Ahrweiler today.

History+

The origins of the Ahrweiler town fortification date back to the mid-13th century, with initial evidence of the moat in 1261, the town gates in 1297, and the wall in 1298. The Adenbachtor, also known as Winzertor or Marientor, is a three-story, internally open gate tower made of quarry stone with a slate-covered hip roof.
