Beeskow Town Fortification

The historic town hall, a magnificent example of Gothic architecture, dates back to the 14th century. It served as the administrative and political center of the city for centuries. The building has undergone several renovations and additions over time, reflecting different architectural styles and historical periods.

The town hall is characterized by its impressive facade, adorned with intricate stone carvings and statues of historical figures. The prominent clock tower, a later addition from the 16th century, offers panoramic views of the city. Inside, the grand council hall with its vaulted ceilings and stained-glass windows is particularly noteworthy.

Throughout its history, the town hall has been the site of numerous important events, including royal visits, significant political decisions, and public proclamations. It played a crucial role in the city's development and its self-governance. During the Thirty Years' War, it served as a temporary refuge for the city's archives and treasures.

Extensive restoration work was carried out in the late 20th century to preserve the building's structural integrity and historical details. Today, the historic town hall continues to serve as a venue for civic events, cultural exhibitions, and official receptions. Parts of the building are also open to the public for guided tours, offering insights into its rich history and architectural beauty.

The City Wall

The city wall along Mauerstraße is almost completely preserved. The city fortifications were built in the 14th and 15th centuries. Of the formerly nine towers, six round towers remain. Near the "Dicker Turm" (Fat Tower) and the "Storchenturm" (Stork Tower) are remnants of a rampart system.
