The City Wall can be visited
City Wall Dalsheim
The town fortification (Fleckenmauer) encloses the district of Dalsheim.
It was presumably built between 1470 and 1490 and is still almost completely preserved today. Its length is almost exactly one kilometer. The Obertor (Upper Gate) is fortified with a round tower, and the Untertor (Lower Gate) with a rectangular tower. Until 1833, a watchman and his family lived in the Untertorturm, closing the gates every night.
The Fleckenmauer was restored from 1986 to 1990. On this occasion, the first Fleckenmauerfest was celebrated in 1988. Since then, the Fleckenmauerfest takes place every four years. A part of the wall is accessible and can be visited as part of guided tours.
