The Böhmer Gate in Freistadt, Upper Austria, is a medieval city gate and an essential part of the city fortifications. It marks the northern access to the city.

History+

The origins of the Böhmer Gate date back to the 13th century, making it one of the oldest elements of Freistadt's city fortifications. Originally, it bore names such as Spitalstor or Frauentor, before receiving its current name because the road passing through it led to Bohemia. Around 1485, the gate was redesigned by master builder Mathes Klayndl.
