City Wall Malchin-Fangelturm
The Fangelturm in Malchin, a town in the Mecklenburg Lake District, is a part of the former town fortifications. It was an important component of Malchin's town wall. Its height made it a watchtower, from which the surrounding area and the border to Pomerania could be monitored. Originating in the 15th century, the tower received an enhancement in the second half of the 16th century with the addition of a Renaissance gable. The tower owes its name to its former function as a prison. A renovation of the structure took place in 1996.
The tower is a six-story brick building with a gabled roof and reaches a height of around 35 meters.
