The Löpsinger Tor in Nördlingen is a component of the city fortifications in the Bavarian Donau-Ries region. It is part of Germany's only fully preserved and accessible city wall.

History+

Construction of the Nördlingen city wall began in 1327 at the behest of Louis IV, Holy Roman Emperor, to replace an older defensive rampart. The Löpsinger Tor, which protected a trade route to Nuremberg, was built before 1388. In 1592, it was demolished and rebuilt in the style of the Deininger Tor by Wolfgang Walberger over the following two years. A sundial was added in 1837.
