The Gate can be visited

The Laufer Schlagturm is a gate tower that was once part of Nuremberg's penultimate city fortifications. It is located at the Innerer Laufer Platz and is a component of the Inneres Laufer Tor. Its uniqueness lies in the striking clock from which it derives its name, which once announced the complex Nuremberg time.

History+

The tower, a sandstone ashlar construction with a pointed arch gate passage and evasion niches, presumably originated around 1250. The two upper floors and the reinforcing pillars were added in 1508.
