Röttingen Town Fortification
Brattenstein Castle in Röttingen is mentioned in 1230. In 1275, a first city wall is mentioned. In 1336, Röttingen receives full city rights from Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian. Subsequently, the city wall is expanded. In 1345, the lordship of Röttingen is sold by Kraft von Hohenlohe and his wife Anna to the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg. In the 15th century, the new Hundheim Gate Tower is erected directly next to the old Hundheim Gate Tower. In the 19th century, the demolition of the city wall begins. By 1858, only seven of the former 14 towers of the city wall still exist.
