Templin is first mentioned in a document in 1270 as Templyn. The city wall was built in the 14th century. It had 3 gates and 32 watch houses. The Berlin Gate, Prenzlau Gate, the Eulenturm, Mühlen Gate and large sections of the wall system have been preserved.
