The City Palace of Werdensleben in Staßfurt, Saxony-Anhalt, now serves as a cultural institution.

History+

The palace was constructed between 1570 and 1590. It underwent a renovation in 1709, commissioned by Bernhard von Werdensleben, who was then the mayor of Staßfurt. The Tilly Hall on the upper floor is notable because in May 1631, the mayor successfully prevented Staßfurt from suffering the same fate as Magdeburg, which had been destroyed shortly before. Until approximately 2005, this hall also regularly served as the meeting place for the city council.
