Stechinellihaus

The building originally consisted of two houses, built in 1531 and 1541. Under the morganatic wife of Duke Christian of Brunswick, these were merged into one building in 1634. In 1668, a fire destroyed the house. In 1675, a new building was erected under the Celle court councilor J. Breyger. He bequeathed the house to his son-in-law Francesco Maria Capellini, known as Stechinelli. Hence, the building still bears the name Stechinellihaus today. From 1795–1798, the wax manufacturer Jacob Chr. Lampe built the house in its current neoclassical style. In the following period, the owner changed several times. Today, shops are located on the ground floor.
