On the island of Riddarholmen in Stockholm stands the Stenbock Palace, a historic residence that today houses one of the country's highest legal institutions.

History+

The construction of the Stenbock Palace took place around the year 1640. Fredrik Stenbock and his wife Katarina De la Gardie served as the patrons. Nicodemus Tessin the Elder was responsible for the building's design, while Carl Hårleman oversaw the interior decoration. Between 1969 and 1971, the palace underwent extensive renovation, preparing it for its current use.
