Stieger Castle
The Stiegerschlössl is located in the municipality of Maishofen in the district of Zell am See in the federal state of Salzburg (Kammererstraße 4).
The name of the manor goes back to the Stieger family, who were the owners between 1700 and 1818. In 1839, the couple Peter and Elisabeth Neumayer rebuilt the house; an inscription on the bay window of the house (18 P.E.N. 39) bears witness to this. The facade design with fan-like palmettes and the curved stucco gables above the windows dates from this period. Gothic stone surrounds are partly recognizable. Afterwards, the house came into the possession of the farmer Dick's family. Fridolin Engls bought the house from them in 1977. Noble owners have not been proven.
Stiegerschlössl today+
The Stiegerschlössl is a three-story building, Gothic in its core, with two additional attic floors. It is covered with a hip roof, which is hipped on both sides. The corners are emphasized by plaster pilaster strips. The bay window and window grilles date from 1839. The former adjoining farm wing with its mighty gable roof was demolished in 1973 during a road widening.
Today, a guesthouse is operated in the building by the Sussitz family.
