Neuberg Abbey

Neuberg Abbey, also known as Neuberger Münster, is a former Cistercian monastery in Neuberg an der Mürz, Austria. It has a largely preserved medieval character and houses a High Gothic hall church.
History+
The monastery was founded in 1327 by Duke Otto the Merry of the House of Habsburg, commemorating the birth of his son Friedrich. As a daughter monastery of Heiligenkreuz Abbey, it belonged to the filiation of the primary abbey of Morimond. Construction of the hall church began around 1330, with its completion extending until 1496 under Emperor Friedrich III. A feature is the wooden roof truss from the first half of the 15th century, which, with over 1100 m³ of larch wood, is considered the largest and most significant preserved wooden roof truss in the German-speaking world.
