The Reichersberg Abbey is a historic monastery of the Augustinian Canons, located in Upper Austria near the Inn River. It is distinguished by its long and uninterrupted history dating back to the late 11th century.

History+

The founding of Reichersberg Abbey took place around 1084 by Wernher von Reichersberg and his wife Dietbirga. Originally conceived as a castle, the property was converted into a monastery after the early death of their son. The founders chose the Archangel Michael as their patron saint. Despite initial difficulties and expulsions of the canons, especially after Wernher's death, the abbey experienced its first flourishing period under Provost Gerhoch (1132–1169).
