Stolchsches Castle

The castle, which was destroyed at the time, came into the possession of the Lords of Küllingen from the Lords of Emershofen through marriage in 1387. In 1396, the castle was sold to the Lords of Zipplingen. In 1472, the property came into the possession of the Hack Lords of Hoheneck through marriage. In 1522, the property changed hands through inheritance to the Lords of Diemantstein. In 1641, the castle was sold to the Stolch family and has been in family ownership ever since.

Medieval Origins

The oldest parts of the castle date back to the 12th century. These include the keep and parts of the ring wall. The keep, with its impressive wall thickness of three meters, served primarily defensive purposes.

Renaissance and Baroque Alterations

In the 16th century, under the Lords of Diemantstein, extensive Renaissance-style alterations were carried out. The palas was rebuilt and equipped with large windows and decorative gables. In the 18th century, the Stolch family added Baroque elements, including the magnificent staircase and the stucco work in the main hall.

Today, the castle is still inhabited by the Stolch family. Parts of the castle are open to the public and are used for cultural events and guided tours. The castle chapel is regularly used for weddings and concerts. The castle garden, designed as a Baroque park, invites visitors to stroll and relax.
