In Dirmstein, Rhineland-Palatinate, the Sturmfedersches Schloss is a Baroque manor house that features early Classicist elements. It shapes the historic village center and today serves as a central point of community life.

History+

The origins of the castle date back to the 13th century, when a fortified farmstead with defensive towers was built on this site. In 1736, Baron Marsilius Franz Sturmfeder von Oppenweiler began renovations. He immortalized his alleged victory over the devil in a sculpture on the Michelstor, which also features satirical figures and inscriptions against his adversaries.
