Terme dei Sette Sapienti

The Terme dei Sette Sapienti, also known as the Baths of the Seven Sages, are a well-preserved example of a medium-sized Roman bathhouse from the 2nd century. Located in the western part of the ancient port city of Ostia, they are distinguished by their ornamentation with mosaics and wall paintings.

The baths were constructed during the reign of Hadrian and were positioned between two residential blocks. At the center of the complex was a circular hall, once covered by a dome, whose floor was adorned with a black and white mosaic depicting hunting scenes. From this central area, arches led to the various bathing rooms.
