The Tour de Moricq in Angles, a French commune in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region, was built in the 15th century. The keep of the former castle was listed as a Monument historique in 1915 in the list of protected buildings (Base Mérimée) in France. The defensive tower, made of limestone ashlar and protected by a moat, could only be reached via a drawbridge. In the late Middle Ages and early modern period, the tower served as a manor house; its living quarters on the east side were equipped with four Gothic fireplaces. During the Huguenot Wars, the keep was conquered several times by the warring parties. In the 18th century, the tower served as a granary. To save it from decay, the municipality of Angles bought the building in 1988.
