The Trappenseeschlösschen is situated in the middle of Lake Trappensee in the eastern part of Heilbronn. It is considered one of the oldest preserved secular buildings in the city.

History+

The origins of the Trappenseeschlösschen date back to 1519, when it was built as a castle-like complex. Between 1575 and 1576, a Renaissance-style renovation was carried out under Mayor Philipp Orth, who drew inspiration from his travels to Italy. Orth used the complex for fish farming and established an orchard, with the lake then named Orthensee after him. In 1653, the Heilbronn merchant family Trapp acquired the property; they were later ennobled and gave their current name to both the lake and the building.
