Trawsgoed Manor, a manor and estate house in Wales, is located in the county of Ceredigion near Aberystwyth.
History+
The history of Trawsgoed Manor began in 1200 when the estate came into the possession of the Vaughan family through the marriage of Adda Fychan to Tudo, the heiress of Ifan Goch of Trawsgoed. Sir John Vaughan, a parliamentarian and lawyer appointed Chief Justice by Charles II, shaped the modern estate. He acquired large parts of the former monastic lands of the Cistercian abbey Strata Florida and expanded the property through his marriage to Jane Stedman. In 1695, John Vaughan of Trawsgoed was elevated to Viscount Lisburne, and in 1776, the family received the title Earl of Lisburne.
