Lower Castle Gemmingen
Gemmingen Castle (Lower Castle)+
In the middle of the village stands the three-story Gemmingen Castle (Lower Castle), the manor house of the Gemmingen family. The building was presumably erected in 1592 on the foundations of the previously destroyed Lower Castle, which originated around 1274. Next to the castle is a medieval defensive tower. The castle features a magnificent Renaissance portal, and numerous historic Gemmingen epitaphs are located on the castle wall. The castle park was acquired by the municipality in 1980 and laid out in its current form between 1982 and 1988. The Middle Castle from 1235 and the Upper Castle from 1568 were destroyed in the Thirty Years' War; their former locations are now built over.
