In the municipality of Gemmingen, in the Heilbronn district, stands the Lower Castle Gemmingen. This three-story castle serves as the manor house for the Gemmingen family.

History+

The origins of the Lower Castle Gemmingen date back to 1592, when it was presumably built on the foundations of a previously destroyed Lower Castle, which originated around 1274. The Gemmingen family shaped the history of the estate. While the Middle Castle (1235) and the Upper Castle (1568) were destroyed during the Thirty Years' War and are now built over, the Lower Castle survived.
