The Lower Castle Grönenbach, often known as Schlössle, is a building in Bad Grönenbach. It was built in the 16th century as a widow's residence and is now privately owned.

History+

The construction of the Lower Castle took place in 1563 by the four brothers Konrad, Wolfgang, Christoph, and Philipp von Pappenheim. It was originally designed as a widow's seat for the Pappenheim family. After Philipp von Pappenheim's death in 1619, his widow Anna von Winneberg moved in. Despite efforts to suppress the Calvinist faith introduced by Philipp, reformed sermons and Bible studies continued to be held in the castle until 1626, led by Adolf Langhans. In the 17th century, the castle served as a residence for Pappenheim officials, including Georg Weidlin.
