Unterhof Manor

In the 16th century, the von und zu Gilsa family split into two main lines, including that of the Unterhof. In addition to the original moated castle, now known as Mittelhof, the neighboring estates of Oberhof and Unterhof were built. The manor house of the Unterhof, a half-timbered building with a gabled dormer, was constructed around 1700. A richly carved front door from 1809 adorns the building. Around 1920, the von und zu Gilsa family established a private cemetery with a staircase and portal on the wooded slope north of the property.
