History of the Building+
The castle was built around 1600. It served as the official and residential seat of the chief mining administrator, the chief steward, and the mining judge, but also as lodging for the archbishops when they traveled to Gastein to inspect the mines or for visitations. Around 1879, the k.k. Forest and Domain Administration was established here, and from 1924, the Forest Administration was housed there.
