History+
The property, known as Mettlengut, was first documented in 1650, when Samuel Ougspurger, married to Jacqueline von Graffenried, was named as the first lord of the manor. Around 1750, Johann Albrecht Steiger invested in expanding the stately home. Various owners shaped the estate, including Count Karl Friedrich von Pourtalès. In the 1960s, the municipality of Muri acquired Villa Mettlen at the request of the then owner César Gustav Tauber. The building was transformed into a meeting and cultural center and has housed the Muri-Gümligen Music School since 1970.
