Wangenheimpalais

The palace was constructed between 1829 and 1832 based on designs by court architect Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves, commissioned by Georg von Wangenheim. An addition of a winter garden was made in 1844, also by Laves. Following the ascension of Georg V. to the throne in 1851, the building was acquired by the Crown Dotation and served as the ruler's residence for ten years. In 1862, the palace became the property of the city of Hannover and, after a renovation under Ludwig Droste, was used as the city hall until 1913.
