Hueb Castle

The first mention of Hueb Castle dates back to 1356, when it was granted as a fief by the Volkensdorffer family to the Steyr city judge Eberhard Mühlwanger. Later, the brothers Siegmund and Heinrich Prueschenk appeared as feudal lords. In 1525, Hueb came into the possession of the Sproll family, followed by Daniel Luger in 1557. Around 1588, under the owner Urban Johann Steurer, a peasant uprising occurred due to high taxes, which also affected the neighboring estates of Eggendorf and Leompach. Subsequent owners included Klaudius Philipp Pröller von Ladendorf (1608) and Johann Friedrich Mörk von Gneisenau (1650). After a severe fire around 1700, the castle was rebuilt under Wolf Spiller von Mitterberg (1696–1709). In 1956, the Wiesmayer family acquired the castle and opened an inn there, which was transferred to the Wimmer family in 1961.
