Sankt Ulrich Castle

A moated castle stood on the site of the current castle in the 12th century, its moats fed by the Geisel river. Construction of the castle began in the second half of the 15th century as a pile dwelling on oak stilts, which is why the moat must remain filled to this day to ensure the stability of the piles. Between 1528 and 1764, the castle was owned by the von Breitenbauch family, who had a Baroque garden and an English landscape park laid out around 1720. A renovation took place in 1624, and a square Renaissance bay window with an onion dome remains a detail.
