The Castle can be visited

Wasserschloss Tatenhausen, in the Tatenhauser Forest near Halle, is a structure with Weser Renaissance and Baroque architecture. For centuries, it served as the ancestral seat of the Korff genannt Schmising family.

History+

The first documented mention of the castle dates back to 1491, when it was owned by Knight Bernd Hoberg. In 1524, the Korff-Schmising family acquired the property, and from 1540, construction of the main house and the first east wing began in the Weser Renaissance style, built upon 14th-century foundations. Around 1671, the second east wing and its tower were added. In the early 18th century, the main entrance, a terrace, and the west wing followed in a simpler Baroque style. The poet Friedrich Leopold zu Stolberg-Stolberg resided at the moated castle from 1812 to 1816.
