Wat-Thai-Tempel

The community's origins trace back to a period when it was still overseen from Ingolstadt. In 1994, the Munich Thais rented their own building in the Allach district to meet their growing needs. With the support of numerous benefactors, the community was able to acquire a building from 1991 on Bad-Dürkheimer-Straße in 1998, which has since served as the permanent location for the Wat-Thai Temple. The supporting association, the Wat-Thai German-Thai Buddhist Association in Germany e.V., is dedicated to the Theravada school of Buddhist tradition and is led by the head monk Phrakhrupalad Chon Chaiamnat. Of the approximately 2000 Thais living in the region, around 600 are members of this community.

The Wat-Thai Temple is situated in the city of Munich, specifically in the Ramersdorf district, within the state of Bavaria in Germany.

The monastery serves as an active community center for the Thai diaspora in Munich. It provides a place for religious practices and the preservation of cultural traditions. The abbot of the community is the head monk Phrakhrupalad Chon Chaiamnat.
