The fortified church of Altendorf is located in Kelbra in the Mansfeld-Südharz district, Saxony-Anhalt. It is considered one of the oldest churches in the Kyffhäuser region.

The origins of the church likely date back to the 11th century when it was built as a Romanesque fortified church. The sacred building was first mentioned in 1093 and documented in a charter in 1251. Early Romanesque structural remains attest to its age. In 1357 and later periods, the church underwent alterations to meet changing requirements. On July 8, 1357, Bishop Albertus consecrated the altar of St.
