Palterndorf Castle
The Wehrturm Palterndorf, a Gothic village tower north of the Danube in Lower Austria, rises in the Weinviertel region. It represents a rare example of medieval defensive architecture in the region.
History+
The Wehrturm Palterndorf was first documented in 1414 in a Liechtenstein urbarium, although its construction is presumed to be older. Built from quarry stone, the structure measures 8 by 8 meters at its base and reaches an eave height of 14 meters, with wall thickness exceeding one meter.
