Weiße Castle (Sechtem)

The White Castle was first documented in 1472, at which time it was owned by the wife of Dersdorf, a member of the Counts Beissel von Gymnich. However, its construction dates back to the 11th century. In 1492, Wilhelm von Effern was recorded as the owner. Over two centuries, due to its location amidst meadows and pastures, it became known as "Wisseburg" (Meadow Castle). Later, the castle belonged to Karl Kaspar Graf von der Leyen, Archbishop and Elector of Trier, who sold it to Herr von Meyerhofen.
