The Wildburg, a reconstructed castle complex, is located in Treis-Karden in the Cochem-Zell district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated on a wooded mountain spur, encircled by the Flaumbach and Dünnbach streams.

History+

The origins of the Wildburg are believed to date back to the 13th or 14th century, when it was built by the Lords of Wildenberg. It served as the ancestral seat of a collateral line related to the Lords of Braunshorn. Around 1400, after the extinction of this line, the castle reverted to Kurtrier as a relinquished fief. In the subsequent centuries, the Wildburg changed hands multiple times, including families such as von Miehlen, von dem Burgtor, and von Eltz, but always remained under Trier's suzerainty.
