Wolkenburg

The origins of the Wolkenburg trace back to a medieval monastic complex of the Benedictine nuns of Rolandswerth. The current Baroque buildings were constructed on this historic site in 1734. Following secularization in 1802, the property initially passed into private ownership and later into municipal administration. In 1829, the Alexian Brothers took over the building before moving to Lindenthal around 1900. Subsequently, the Wolkenburg housed a school of applied arts and the Rhenish Music School. The Kölner Männer-Gesang-Verein occupied the house, which was damaged in May 1942, and restored it by 1960. A comprehensive restoration took place in 1987. Since July 1, 1980, the Wolkenburg has been officially listed as a monument in Cologne.

The historic Wolkenburg building is situated in Cologne's Altstadt-Süd district in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located on Mauritiussteinweg in Cologne's city center.

Today, the Wolkenburg is a listed building in North Rhine-Westphalia. It serves as the home of the Kölner Männer-Gesang-Verein and is also used as an event center.
