The Cistercian convent of St. Marien in Liebenwahn, then a suburb of Aschersleben, was founded in 1266 by the Ascanians. There are also indications of an earlier community formation around 1250, which may have preceded the official foundation. The monastic complex was destroyed in 1525 and formally dissolved in 1553. The complete demolition of the buildings occurred in 1561. Today, only the street name Klosterhof and the monument Klosterhof 5 bear witness to the former presence of the convent.
