St. Agneskloster
The former Cistercian convent of St. Agnes in Lauingen, situated in the Swabian district of Dillingen an der Donau, was once a significant spiritual institution. Today, only a few traces remain of its former presence, yet the history of the site endures.
History+
The convent, dedicated to Saint Agnes, was founded in the year 1270. For centuries, the Cistercian order shaped the spiritual and cultural life of the region. In the course of secularization, the convent was eventually dissolved. The entire complex was sold in 1812. A large part of the original buildings, including the convent church, was subsequently demolished. A remaining section of the former convent complex now houses the Lauingen Local History Museum.
