Zollern Castle

The origins of the Zollernschloss date back to the 13th century when it was built as a town castle for the Counts of Zollern-Schalksburg. In 1403, it was acquired by Württemberg and subsequently served as the seat of the Württembergian bailiff. After the Thirty Years' War, the castle was dilapidated and required extensive renovation in the 17th century. Later, in the 18th century, it was privatized and used as an inn with a brewery, as well as a stable and barn. In 1934, it was completely demolished and then rebuilt, with efforts made to incorporate as many original parts as possible.
