Nordenberg Castle
Nordenberg Castle in Franconia was the seat of the Lords of Nordenberg from the middle of the 12th century until 1383. As imperial officials from Rothenburg, they held the title "Imperial Master of the Kitchen".
In 1156, there was a first mention of a Lupold von Nordenberg. In 1383, the hilltop castle and the associated land came into the possession of the Imperial City of Rothenburg. In 1407, during the war between the Burgrave and Rothenburg, the castle was captured by the Margraves of Brandenburg after a three-week siege and destroyed in 1408 on the orders of King Ruprecht.
