Rosenegg Castle

The origins of Rosenegg Castle likely date back to the first half of the 13th century, with the noble lords of Twiel mentioned as possible builders. It was first documented in 1250, at which time it was owned by the Lords of Rosenegg. In 1335, the castle passed into the possession of the Lords of Lupfen. After its destruction in the Swiss War of 1499, the complex was rebuilt. In 1610, following the extinction of the Lupfen family, Rosenegg fell to the Prince-Bishopric of Constance. Just seven years later, in 1617, it was expanded into a secondary residence, with the residential buildings being raised.
