The Kaiserburgruine in Oberhausen, Bavaria, is a former hilltop castle on the Ulrichsberg.

History+

The origins of the Kaiserburg likely date back to 1197, when it was built as an imperial castle. Its first documented mention is from 1280. The Counts of Graisbach-Lechsgemünd owned the castle, which marked the easternmost point of their possessions south of the Danube. The defense of the Kaiserburg was entrusted by the Graisbachers to their vassals, the Knights of Straß. In 1270, the County of Neuburg was seized by the Wittelsbachers, leading to the destruction of several castles.
