Bühl Castle

Bühl Castle was built in 1554 by David vom Stain. In 1628, his son, Leopold Carl vom Stain, sold all of the Bühl property, including the castle, to Austria. Emperor Leopold I later granted the castle to the Jesuit College in Rottenburg as collateral for a loan of 10,000 guilders. The order established a brewery in the castle, which operated until 1924. After the dissolution of the Jesuit Order in 1773, the castle also served as an inn and experienced numerous changes of ownership. In 1807, a “real right to dance” was registered for the castle brewery, which still exists today. After 1924, the property housed a sawmill and a chimney construction company, before it was acquired by Tübingen lawyers in 1980, renovated, and converted into condominiums.
